Australians are being forced to wait years for insurance claims to be paid by unprincipled and incompetent super funds. It is a disgrace.

Super funds don’t seem to care about dragging out the processing times for grieving families. In some cases, grieving families are being forced to produce multiple death certificates by these super funds.

Super fund boards are ultimately responsible for the conduct of their funds.

These boards are adapt at shovelling money to unions but are inept in meeting their insurance obligations to members.

Even the corporate regulator, ASIC, had conceded that super fund boards are responsible - “At the heart of this issue is leadership that doesn’t have a grip on the fund’s data, systems and processes – and ultimately, it is the customers who suffer for it.”

Yet the Labor Government has had almost said nothing about super funds behaving badly.

Jim Chalmers has rightly had a lot to say when it comes to the banks and supermarkets, but has had nothing to say on super.

November 2019 - Jim Chalmers on Westpac following revelations of misconduct:

"On the face of it, these allegations are extraordinarily serious… Uh, and if they've done the wrong thing, then the book should be thrown at them."

November 2024 - Jim Chalmers on Cbus following revelations of misconduct:

"Well I'm not going to get into commentary about, um, the, uh, chair of Cbus."

The Albanese Labor Government is beyond conflicted and will never fix super.

Labor is focused on protecting its mates like its national president and Cbus chair Mr Swan, not working Australians.
